TB0001 - Using the Connection Administrator

Introduction
The Connection Administrator is a utility used to control and monitor BuildPro sessions running on the server (host computer). Its requests are routed through to the Session Manager on the server. Using the Connection Administrator any of the following functions can be performed:
- monitor Networking sessions running on any of the connected hosts
- shutdown a Session Manager and all its current Networking sessions
- terminate a selected Networking session
The Connection Administrator can only be run on Microsoft Windows Server or Windows XP/VISTA. It is primarily intended to be used by the System Administrator.
Setting up the Connection Administrator

Open the Client folder from within the BuildProfessional folder, and double-click the Make Client icon. The Make BuildProfessional Connection wizard is displayed.
- Enter details for each of the following items:
Connection name
Enter a name to identify this connection file.
Host name
Accept the displayed name or enter the name of a host on which the BuildPro Application Server is running.
Domain name
Enter the name of the Microsoft Domain which will be used to run the BuildProfessional Application Server. Note: This field is only required for connecting to a Windows NT Server.
User name
Enter your user name. This is your login name for the host where Session Manager is running and on which an Application Server will run.
User password
Enter your user password. This is your login password for the host where Session Manager is running and on which an Application Server will run. NOTE: This field may be left blank at this stage. If so, you will be required to enter the password when running the Connection file.
Connection type
Select the Administrator connection
After pressing the "Finish" button, an icon will appear in the BuildPro client Window as a shortcut to BuildProfessional Connection File ("connection_name.bpc").
Create shortcut to Connection Administrator Program
Within your BuildProfessional Client Window, create a shortcut to the Connection Administrator.
- Select the "New" option from the "File" pulldown.
- In the command line field point to the file "CADMIN.EXE" in the "bin_net" subdirectory where you installed BuildPro.
- Enter "Connection Administrator" as the name of the shortcut and press the "Finish" button.
Running the Connection Administrator
The Connection Administrator can be activated by:
- Drag and drop the newly created Connection file (bpc-file) onto the Connection Administrator shortcut.
- Start the connection administrator and select "Open…" from the "Connection" pulldown menu. Browse to your BuildProfessional Client directory and open the newly created Connection file (bpc-file).
