TB0003 - Changing the Splash Screen
Number: TB0003
Availability: As of BuildPro 8.00, all users.
Introduction
It is common within Windows applications that a splash screen comes up briefly when starting a program. When starting BuildProfessional or a BuildProfessional application, the default BuildProfessional splash screen will appear. It is possible to replace this screen with your own...
Changing the splash screen
You can find the existing splash screen in the directory as defined in RepositoryPath (normally called "sfiles"). The file name is "BP.DAT".
To edit the splash screen copy "BP.DAT" to "bp.bmp" and edit it in any bitmap editor such as MS Paint. When you’re done rename the file back to bp.dat. While your file can be a different file size (depending on color depth), the dimensions must not be different from the original bp.dat file.
If you remove the "BP.DAT" file, no splash screen will appear when starting BuildProfessional or one of its applications.
Command line option
You can control the display of the splash screen by using "-d" parameter when starting BuildProfessional. Not only the splash screen will disappear, but also the window containing the words " working ... " when loading an application in the development environment.
Client / Server Environments
To change the splash screen for all users in a client / server environment using thin clients, edit the bp.dat file on the server side. After installing the client software remove the "_BP.DAT" file from the "cache" directory. The next time the client connects to the server, the bp.dat file will be refreshed.
